Grade 9 Learners Shine in Their Final Practical Lesson
Grade 9 learners at Destiny Garden School recently brought their classroom learning to life in an engaging and meaningful final practical lesson focused on resource conservation. The session highlighted the importance of reducing food waste through the creative use of leftovers, while also introducing learners to the family-style method of meal service.
Throughout the lesson, students explored how to thoughtfully transform leftover ingredients into balanced, appealing dishes. This hands-on approach not only reinforced key principles of sustainability and meal planning, but also encouraged creativity and problem-solving in the kitchen.

In addition to food preparation, students practised setting the table and serving one another using the family-style method, promoting respect, cooperation, and shared responsibility. The activity fostered a strong sense of teamwork, as students worked together to prepare and present their meals.

The lesson concluded with the students enjoying the dishes they had created, sharing both the food and the experience as a group. It was a rewarding and memorable way to celebrate their efforts and achievements.
Well done to all the Grade 9 students for their enthusiasm, creativity, and excellent practical skills!
