New School Year – January 2023

Destiny Garden School opened on 23rd January 2023 for the start of the new school year. The intake for grade 1 was good and a few new pupils joined the other grades.  All the teachers and non-teaching staff reported back ready for a busy term. We wish them the very best for the new year.

Letters to Destiny Garden School

Thank you for your letters!  The few we get from our sponsors or their children are read during class (in English or Geography lessons, for example), so everyone feels included.   The Charity has produced guidelines on writing letters to sponsored children. However, we do not expect sponsors to write letters, and the number of those […]

Lunch for the DGS Children

The charity continues to support Destiny Garden School’s lunch feeding program thanks to generous donations from our supporters, and occasionally we are able to add a special treat of fruit!

Treats for the Children at DGS

Occasional treat or gifts for the children brings much excitement and joy! A few sponsors have sent funds via the charity for a treat for their sponsored child’s class or the whole school. For example, funds have gone towards buying a cake, a gift such as a pencil or book each, special lunch for the […]

The graduating class also showed appreciation for the people who helped put on a […]

Cake for DGS! – May 2022

One Destiny Children trustee provided a cake to mark his 50th birthday.  A lovely gesture that was appreciated by all at Destiny Garden School.

New Textbooks for Destiny Garden School

Thanks to generous donations from our sponsors, we have been able to improve the textbooks-to-students ratio to approximately 1:2. Our goal is to achieve a ratio of 1:1.  We will do it! Life in the classroom has improved so much!  We could not do it without our sponsors!

Breakfast for the younger Children at DGS

Africa Watoto, via Stella Bili,  raised £1,000 to provide the DGS Pre-Primary School children with Breakfast. The children often arrive at school hungry, but this generous donation will ensure they enjoy a cup of nutritious porridge every day for the next 12 months.

New Year Welcome Assembly

School resumed in January 2022 after the New Year celebrations. The photo shows the DGS Head Teacher welcoming the senior students back at a school assembly. To recover from lost time due to the covid-19 pandemic, the 2021 school year had 4 terms instead of the usual 3 terms.  Similarly, the 2022 school year will […]

Tracy’s Challenge – The Results!

A huge thank you goes to Tracy who raised over £2,000 for Destiny Garden School – this will be enough to provide a nutritious school lunch for all 420 children for 11 weeks. Tracy raised these funds by challenging herself to “live on £1 a day” for 21 days. We asked her how she achieved this: What made you decide […]
